About Pennsylvania Firefly Festival

The mission of the Pennsylvania Firefly Festival is to educate the public and raise awareness of the State's Insect. In June, PAFF hosts an annual celebration in Forest County that includes fun and informative guided firefly ecotours to a 100 registered guests to view the mating displays of fireflies including the Synchronous Firefly. During the off season, PAFF focuses on educational outreach to small groups, organizations and schools. PAFF provides presentations or exhibits at meetings and conferences, and offers STEAM programs to schools when asked. Additionally, PAFF supports and trains educators, (formal and informal) and guides with information, resources and curriculum, so that they can develop and conduct their own firefly program, or sustainable guided tours. We hope that through education and awareness Pennsylvanians will appreciate and protect the firefly and its habitats for generations to come.
