About Boothbay Sea and Science Center
The Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) is a nonprofit organization that offers youth ages 5 - 17 equal and affordable access to a uniquely integrated marine science, sailing, and boating program. BSSC is located at 216 Ocean Point Road at the Ocean Point Marina in East Boothbay, Maine.
The Boothbay Sea and Science Center offers thematic Sessions that include but are not limited to climate change, Maine fisheries and aquaculture, marine debris and marine technology, and Maine maritime art, storytelling, and history.
BSSC is built on community collaborations with other non-profit organizations and businesses that support youth education: Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, Bristol Marine at the Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor, Nathaniel S. Wilson Sailmaker, Washburn & Doughty, Lincoln County Regional Planning, Maine Sea Farms, Springtide Seaweed, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Maine DMR, OceansWide, USG Boothbay Harbor, Burnt Island, Maine State Aquarium, Down East Gallery, Southport Island School, Boothbay Region Elementary School, Edgecomb Eddy School, South Bristol School, Medomak Middle School, Lincoln Academy, Lisbon Middle School, Freeport Middle School, Greely Middle School, Greenville Consolidated School, Bergstrom Homeschool ... to name a few.
BSSC has become a year-round program with its "Exploring the Science of Seaweed Farming" program ... an in-school experiential program that focuses on the conditions under which seaweed grows.
