About Chisago County

Chisago County Water Resources Programs and Planning

Chisago County has abundant water resources including 91 lakes, 72,257 acres of wetlands, and numerous miles of streams, rivers, and judicial/public ditches. Chisago County seeks to protect our water resources through implementation of local watershed management planning for habitat protection and for residents to enjoy through recreation.

Chisago County Water Resources has several programs to protect our water resources including Aquatic Invasive Species, Water Quality Monitoring, and Water Resources & Environmental Education. County staff and volunteers monitor lake levels to assist in enforcement of the county Slow-No-Wake Ordinance (PDF). Each year, county staff also prepares Annual Reports summarizing the work completed in all of the water resources programs and activities.

Chisago County Board of Commissioners and Citizen At-Large members participate in the Lower St. Croix River Watershed Policy Committee and Chisago County Water Plan Policy Team to guide and recommend implementation of the Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan and Chisago County Appendix.
