Education Through Recreation

A field trip program for 4th graders. Students visit Crestridge Ecological Reserve in El Cajon and the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista to understand the connection between inland and coastal habitats, and how human actions upstream can impact habitats locally and downstream -- and what they can do to help. Activities included guided hikes, hands-on native plant restoration, and scientific investigations such as water quality testing, groundwater/runoff experiments, and more.
