The GEAA Field Trips program takes students to Government Canyon State Natural Area (GCSNA) to learn how the Edwards Aquifer system functions and its importance to sustaining life in this region. GCSNA was chosen because it encompasses over 8,000 acres of the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone in northwest Bexar County, providing an especially rich selection of Aquifer features to explore. GCSNA staff provides presentations, guided hikes and lab exercises.
