Lunch out of Landfills compost and food recovery in schools

On average, elementary schools dispose of 50 pounds of perfectly edible and recoverable food daily. Montgomery County Schools reported the recovery of over tons of food in the 95 schools that had share tables along with mini refrigerators for the safe handling of perishable foods. At 50 pounds per day Maryland schools discarded 10,800,000 pounds of food last year. This must stop. Lunch out of Landfills is advocating for refrigeration in every school in the state/nation.
