Phenology in the Classroom

For over 35 years, KAXE's staff phenologist John Latimer has encouraged and assisted educators across the state of Minnesota to get students outdoors and observing seasonal changes. The students record their observations, and their audio reports are aired on Northern Community Radio each week. Over the many years the program has been running, former students have stated the program inspired them to follow careers in conservation or environmental fields. The program meets standards in math, science, writing, and public speaking.
