Smokey Bear

Smokey Bear himself appears at programs, courtesy of the United States Forest Service. Smokey relates his history and background (through an interpreter from the Conservation District), and teaches lessons about trees, forestry products, wildlife habitat, fire safety, and soil and water conservation. The Conservation District supplies a teacher packet which contains a Smokey poster for the classroom, and student certificates for learning Smokey’s Rules of Fire Prevention, supplemental information, a
template for pencil and paper puzzles and additional classroom activities.
