St. Louis Green Schoolyards

We sit on a Steering Committee with the St. Louis Public School (SLPS) District, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and Dutchtown South Community Corporation to help guide a pilot green schoolyard redevelopment project at Froebel Literacy Academy in the Gravois Park neighborhood of St. Louis City, and are working to expand the program throughout the SLPS District. The program seeks to leverage MSD Project Clear large grants funding to drive equitable redevelopment of SLPS's asphalt-covered schoolyards into co-created, healthy, nature-based outdoor learning and gathering spaces for students, staff and surrounding neighbors. The sites seek to manage 100% of stormwater on site, as well as help address any localized flooding in the immediately surrounding area.
