Teaching Extreme Weather

Teaching Extreme Weather provides K-12 science teachers with an opportunity to explore the driving forces behind extreme weather events, specifically those occurring where they live. Teachers create a lesson or series of lessons and align to NGSS and State Standards. The relationship of climate change to extreme weather events is explored and attribution science is explained. The course provides educators with a deep dive into how to teach about extreme weather events. There are four learning modules, (one per week) that cover the concepts of weather, climate, global warming and climate change, extreme weather, and climate change solutions. The course includes a facilitated forum for peer to peer collaboration and the support of an instructional leader.
