Watershed Science

TIRN utilizes a hands-on watershed kit to teach students about the impacts that pollution has on the environment. This program consists of a landscape map representing typical sites found in a coastal area including: a dredged channel, resort, treatment plant, gasoline station, marina, residence with a septic tank and an urban community. Through the demonstration, students will learn about point and non-point source pollution and how pollution impacts wetlands, estuaries, the ocean, beaches, coral reefs and shellfish beds.
