Following Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) model, we are working with small groups of high school students to teach them about environmental health and working with local artists to develop multimedia STEAM art projects. Our first success is a stop-motion animation about plastics! The students projects communicate key environmental health concepts to other students, the public, and policymakers. Participating students receive paid summer internships, engage in science education training, and produce high quality art products. Our ESTA youth have developed a stop-motion animation about plastics and will be creating a multimedia arts productions addressing climate change and human health and a mural project addressing agriculture and human health.
