Youth Ecology Education through Restoration (YEER)

YEER connects middle school science teachers with volunteer native plant restoration experts in their community to restore biodiversity to their schoolyard or a nearby park, as a part of a high quality, NGSS-aligned, place-based, project-based ecosystem unit taught by the classroom teacher. YEER provides an effective pathway for middle school students to understand local native ecosystems and engage in meaningful restoration work alongside community role models who inspire lifelong stewardship.
