Encourage the development of practices used by scientists, engineers, and mathematicians with mentoring done by the VAS. Identify students who are providing leadership in solving important problems and give them the ability to be state leaders serving on the board. Assist in publishing student projects in the Proceedings and the VOICE (student publication). Encourage the pursuit of careers in science, mathematics, and applied fields by supporting these efforts in scholarships, meeting scientists and other opportunities. Teach students how to develop a project, conduct research, draw conclusions, and make public presentations establishing critical thinking skills. Foster fellowship between VJAS and the Virginia Academy of Science (VAS).

Project Learning Tree's mission is to advance environmental literacy, stewardship & career pathways using trees & forests as windows on the world. We do this work in Virginia.

Since 1984, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) has been motivating and enabling people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.

To connect people to Voyageurs National Park, enhance the visitor experience, and protect the park for present and future generations.

The mission of the Arboretum is to maintain a wildlife preserve within metropolitan Columbia; serve as an outdoor lab and lecture site for the University; function as a conservation outreach center.

Texas A&M Forest Service provides statewide leadership and technical assistance to ensure trees, forests and related natural resources are sustained for the benefit of all. The agency supports the state's incident response capability, protecting against wildfire and responding to a range of all-hazard incidents.

The outreach and education team provides an array of educational experiences to encourage waste reduction, recycling and environmental stewardship in the community.

For over 70 years, Walden West has provided hands-on, outdoor school experiences in the environmental sciences for the children of Santa Clara County. Walden West's main facility, in the Saratoga hills, and a second location in the Cupertino hills use the outdoors to teach science concepts while introducing students to natural environments. Annually, Walden West serves over 12,000 students during the school year and 2,000 more during the summer.

The Marin County Outdoor School at Walker Creek Ranch is dedicated to helping elementary schools satisfy their educational goals through quality instruction within a special learning environment that inspires and motivates students to achieve an appreciation of the natural world. Using the principals of thematic instruction, the Outdoor School program enhances a student's critical thinking, processing, and socialization skills.
