Beyond Toxics provides leadership to build a community-driven environmental justice movement for a thriving and just Oregon. We envision a society where everyone has equitable access to healthy food and clean air and water, and underserved communities are included in decision making processes that affect them. Together, we move beyond the damaging environmental practices of the past and collectively work to support and maintain ecological resilience and balance.

As a regional network of the Biomimicry Institute, our mission is to empower the San Diego region, through education and community engagement to learn, discover and emulate Life's design to solve humanity's greatest challenges. Biomimicry is the practice of learning from and emulating Life's genius to create more efficient, elegant, and sustainable designs. It is a problem-solving method, a sustainability ethos, an innovation approach, a change movement, and a new way of viewing and valuing nature.

The Bird School Project inspires and equips both students and teachers to love, study, and steward their local environment. Inspired by the ubiquitous nature of birds, Bird School engages students by visiting schools and taking students right outside on their school campus to discover the local avifauna first hand. The Bird School Project’s main program, a four-visit life science unit, includes schoolyard birdwatching, close examination of museum specimens, and the use of a field journal in which students transform their observations outside into creative data that marks their own progress in understanding.
