FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake was founded in 1994. The mission of FRIENDS is to preserve and protect the Great Salt Lake ecosystem and to increase public awareness and appreciation of the Lake through education, research, advocacy and the arts.

FIF works to educate the public about the California Channel Islands ecosystem and to promote science-based conservation efforts to ensure the island fox's continued survival and the recovery of its island home.

For over thirty years, our water-focused friends group has been the only grassroots conservation group dedicated to protecting the Kansas River. Friends of the Kaw's mission is to protect and preserve the Kansas River for future generations, to advocate for the rehabilitation of the Kansas River’s environs, including its water quality and wildlife habitat, to discover and promote compatible public recreational uses of the Kansas River and encourage the development of public access, to educate the public about the importance, benefits, and beauty of the Kansas River, and to cooperate with other persons, organizations, and public agencies in support of a healthy Kansas River ecosystem.

We build capacity for communities, students, and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate, and equity on the Los Angeles River.
