Designated by NOAA as the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve (TRNERR), we are one of
29 estuarine reserves in the country devoted to education and research. The Reserve is managed cooperatively
by CA State Parks & the USFWS.
Each NERR develops and implements a program that links education to scientific research and stewardship. Each Reserve's education program functions independently, but all have commonalities with other NERR education programs. A system-wide K-12 program (K-12 Estuarine Education Program, or KEEP) continues to be developed with the national Education Coordinators. The K-12 Estuarine Education Program directs the Reserves’ education actions, including implementing the Teachers on the Estuary (TOTE) teacher training.
Environmental education is an integral component of programming that serves educational goals in the resource protection and ecosystem management of Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve. At the Reserve, the operating agencies, CSP and FWS, view education and outreach as powerful tools that help oversee the human aspect of resource management.

Provide sustainable land/timber stand management and to educate clients and communities in the commonwealth on sustainable environment practices/energy management/environment impacts of human activities.

To promote an appreciation of the natural environment among children, adults, and families through hands on programs in the schools, at camps, and in the community and to demonstrate responsible stewardship of natural resources through land protection, research, and sustainable forestry, agriculture, and energy.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Wabash River Corridor by creating sustainable opportunities to improve health, recreation, education, economic development, and environmental management.
