The Newfound Lake Region Association’s mission is to protect Newfound Lake and its watershed. The Association – through education, programs, and collaboration – promotes conservation and preservation of the region’s natural, social, and economic resources.

The NBC conducts programs that are consistent with the four elements of our Strategic Plan: Education, Restoration, Research, and Watershed Management. NBCs educational programs are focused on education of the public about the ecological value of the Upper Newport Bay and include intensive naturalist docent training, guided trail, kayak tours, marine life inventories of the Bay, topical workshops, symposia on issues relative to the Bay, and special events that attract the public to become aware of the Bay and its importance.

Newport Whales offers year-round whale watching cruises and on-the-water science programs for K-12th grade students that align with NGSS & STEM requirements for all grade levels. Our cruises are 2-2.5hrs long and can include a guided onboard Naturalists to provide narration, real marine mammal artifacts and a wealth of information. Virtual Whale Watching Programs (all grades), General Whale Watching (all grades), Enhanced Whale Watching Cruises (1st-6th), Marine Protected Area Science Cruises (7th-12th grade)

NEXT.cc STEAM by Design adds art and the environment to every subject in K12 to develop ethical imagination and environmental stewardship. We work at the interconnections of the natural and the built world, introducing what environmental design is, what human design does, and why design is essential to our sustainable future. We know our world is finite, but that imagination is infinite. We support student-led inquiry and innovation through design thinking, research, process, and making online, in the classroom, and in the community to inspire youth voice and participation in building a better and more equitable world.
