STEM Programs at San Joaquin County Office of Education provides professional learning for teachers and programs and event for students in the areas of science while integrating, technology, engineering, and math and environmental literacy. STEM Programs host two regional environmental literacy networks. The Youth for Environmental Literacy (YEL) Network is designed for high school students to come together and share their passion for helping to make positive change to a more sustainable future. The Teachers for Environmental Literacy (TEL) Network is designed for teaches to come together from throughout the region to focus on the teaching of environmental literacy.

Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center
Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center is a multi-night, residential outdoor school owned and operated by the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Our beautiful 62 acre property is located in the high Sierra Nevada Mountains in Placer County, and sits right on the Lake Valley Reservoir at an elevation of 5840 feet. Each week, we welcome new groups of 5th and 6th grade students who visit us from San Joaquin county. We hope that students will leave Sky Mountain with a love of nature and the skills to think and act like a scientist as they notice and wonder at the amazing ecosystem of Sky Mountain!
