Coastal Mountains Land Trust was founded in 1986 to permanently conserve land to protect the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay region. In total, we have conserved over 13,000 acres of land by creating public nature preserves and helping landowners conserve the natural character of their properties. We are a small local nonprofit organization that serves 15 communities between Rockport and Prospect, Maine. The Learning Landscapes program at Coastal Mountains Land Trust aims to connect each child in our communities with a natural place near their school and the opportunity to learn outdoors. Through this program we are focused on: securing land or access to nature within walking distance of local school; supporting improvements, including trails and outdoor learning spaces; and mentoring educators in outdoor learning and connecting them with a network of local organizations and resources.
