Assist in publishing student projects in the Proceedings and the VOICE (student publication). Encourage the pursuit of careers in science, mathematics, and applied fields by supporting these efforts in scholarships, meeting scientists and other opportunities. Teach students how to develop a project, conduct research, draw conclusions, and make public presentations establishing critical thinking skills. Foster fellowship between VJAS and the Virginia Academy of Science (VAS).

The agency supports the state's incident response capability, protecting against wildfire and responding to a range of all-hazard incidents.
