The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) supports students, families, teachers, and school leaders across the county. Our services and programs support nearly 780 schools and more than 500,000 students, including the nearly 10,000 children we educate each year through our Juvenile Court and Community Schools. SDCOE provides these services for the 42 school districts, 129 charter schools, and five community college districts in the county.
SDCOEs mission is to inspire and lead innovation in education. SDCOE aims to serve as an educational leader and trusted partner to transform public education and guarantee high levels of student achievement. In partnership with local school districts and the global learning community, we research and apply innovative 21st century practices; leverage resources; develop strategic alliances; inspire powerful leadership; and provide exemplary customized services to districts, communities, and the students in all SDCOE-operated programs.
Since 1995, SDCOEs Science Outreach programs have been inspiring San Diego county youth, through innovative, hands-on programs, to become responsible stewards of their community. Our educators work to enhance student knowledge on science content and key environmental issues. The programs align with SDCOEs Board goals, especially the goal to provide educational opportunities and supports to SDCOE schools and school districts so that all students, including our historically underserved students, are successful.
