San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District is an independent special district. The District provides comprehensive vector surveillance and control services to enhance the public health and quality of life for the residents and visitors of San Joaquin County. We utilize Integrated Pest Management as a sustainable approach or plan, to managing public health pests and vectors, by combining, biological, chemical, legal, natural, and physical control tactics in a way that minimizes economic, health, and environmental risk. Partnering with the San Joaquin County Office of Education STEM Programs, we are offering a free NGSS engineering-based lesson sequence adapted for both in-classroom and distance learning for sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students. We provide access to a lesson plan hyperdoc for distance learning with an option to invite a guest speaker from the San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District to Zoom in to your classroom! The NGSS lesson sequence focuses on ecology, biology, behaviors of mosquitoes, mosquito-borne disease prevention, and integrated pest management.
