Maine State Museum
The Maine State Museum offers stories of human interactions with the natural environment over the past 12,000 years. The museumÂ’s educators strive to help visitors of all ages connect their unique experiences to MaineÂ’s rich natural and cultural heritage as embodied by the museumÂ’s collections and exhibits. Drawing from a variety of communication tools and learning strategies the museum educators develop and deliver dynamic programs, foster in-depth dialogues, and promote a spirit of inquiry and critical thinking.
Currently, the museum is offering a variety of free, live, online programming via Zoom while the Museum remains closed for extensive renovations and with hopes of reopening in late 2025/early 2026

Maine Teen Camp
Maine Teen Camp (MTC), located in beautiful south western Maine, is a co-ed residential camp for teenagers (13 - 17). MTC aims to provide each camper with a diverse camp experience in a safe and supportive natural setting that promotes a sense of community, friendship, personal growth and leadership. Our elective program offers about 35 different activities, with strengths in music, tennis, waterskiing, and cooking, alongside tons of creative and performing arts, land and water sports, community service and more.

Maine Timber Research and Environmental Education Foundation (Maine TREE)
Maine TREE is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and advocate for the sustainable use of the forest and the ecological, economic, and social health of MaineÂ’s forest community. Maine TREEÂ’s education objectives center around forest-based education, and include professional development workshops for educators, community science projects, and public-facing events in support of landowners and forest professionals. This organization also houses Project Learning Tree (PLT), a nationwide standards-based curriculum that uses trees and forests as a learning tool for K-12 students.

Mano en ManoÂ’s mission is to work with and support farmworkers and immigrants to thrive in Maine. We envision a stronger, more inclusive Maine where the contributions of diverse communities are welcomed, access to essential services, education and housing are ensured, and social justice and equity are embraced. Mano en Mano works in various program areas including: Access to Essential Services, Advocacy, Education, Childcare and Housing. Key accomplishments over the past several years include: opening Rayitos de Sol Bilingual Childcare- the first and only of its kind in the Downeast area, offering bilingual curriculum and accessible pricing; playing a leadership role in statewide services and advocacy for migrant children/youth through the Migrant Education Program; and the continued development of a group of leaders called Nuestra Voz en la Comunidad (Our Voice in the Community).

We are a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System whose mission to is to conserve wild lands for the benefit of plants and wildlife as well as allowing the use by visitors in a sustainable manner. Our Refuge was established specifically for the preservation of Bottomland Hardwood Forests which is a shrinking ecosystem. We also have a decent freshwater mussel population and wildlife and plants that utilize the unique characteristics of bottomland hardwood forests like prothonotary warblers.
